All sides of the lake are lined with stone stairs that are still in good condition  in most places.

The pristine lake all around the temple was man made to precise dimensions and is now maintained clean.

The rain failed to dampen our spirit because we were about to see the largest and greatest temple ever built by man more than a 1000 years go when London was a shabby town.

Now for the first time we come to the 475 m long and 9.5 m wide causeway or the avenue lined on both side with the snake rearing its five heads but we are still quite far from the temple itself to see it properly. Still it is an awesome sight to behold.

Closer to the first gate we see the famous heads of the Angkor Kings facing the cardinal points above.
