Bayon at the centre of Angkor Thom city

The humidity, moss and time all has done damage to the temple as is so evident here.

The detail of carving is astonishing to say the least. But the structure is in dire state and needs massive restoration that is presently undergoing.

The third level is circular and leads up to the towers and the faces.

Bayon temple is built at three levels.  The first two levels are square and adorned with bas reliefs. It has more than 1.2 km of bas relief incorporating more than 11000 figures.

Bayon and its impressive heads .
