The wonder of Angkor Wat.

Apart from the battle scenes, there are other scenes from the Hindu epic Ramayana and the wars fought by Suryavarman II to repel and defeat the Chams that were the archenemies.


It is the nature of the carving (bas relief) that probably saved it from thieves and vandals during the war and the fact that the temple was never abandoned since it was built a 1000 years ago.


Here one can not even see the end of the gallery ,it being so long.


To catalogue the entire bas reliefs  is out of the scope of this presentation so I took only a few photos just to show how amazing it truly is.


The carved scenes run for hundreds of meters in either direction.
